The Stickers Story

Posted by Crossed Films on January 22, 2009 at 4:33 PM

I thought I'd take some time to talk about our stickers, as they're an important part of Crossed Films. The sticker idea was mentioned to me from a friend who was in a band. We were about talking my site and merchandise, when he mentioned StickerJunkie.com. So later that day I checked It out. They made custom stickers dirt cheap. I put in my first order for 200 stickers at close to .25 a sticker.

Hard Rock Cafe

I started out putting them on any sign I could find. I'd give them to friends, and they would plaster them all over school. They would soon run out, and I'd have to order more. Between then and now, I've ordered close to 2000 stickers, and I have less than 100 left now. I started making it a point to keep a handful of stickers in my pocket at all times, whether I was just walking into town or going on a field trip to Boston. During one field trip, we handed out a bunch of stickers to another visiting school. They're teacher had a firm talk with me, and took every single sticker we handed out. Once we started filming events and concerts, we'd bring a stack to hand out to fans.

Nowadays, young strangers will stop me on the street and ask if I have any spare stickers on me. I usually did. I think people were surprised to how gracious I was when giving out stickers. Someone would ask for one, and I'd give them fifteen. I simply had too many stickers to know what to do with. It's also resulted in a few 'sticker fights' with friends. I don't understand why some people look at the stickers, and feel that they have to tear them down. That's when I started putting them in visible hard-to-reach places.

Getting down is the hard part

That way no one would dare take it down. I would sometimes go to extreme lengths to put a sticker where I wanted one. People would then be more curious to how the devil the sticker got there than what the sticker was actually promoting. I knew my exceptional climbing skills would come in handy some day. I also have a giant bag full of Crossed Films pins, but those are a little harder to get rid of.

This sticker stayed up at Mcdonalds for a few months before being taken down.
